Roxby Downs

Friday 4 September 2015
Today is Hugh's birthday and it is a BIG one. The road to Olympic Dam and Roxby Downs had no big trees but the low bushes were nice and green. Both towns were very neat and clean. There were 'no camping' signs all along the road so it was lucky we stopped and camped when we did. The mine was visible in the distance but away from the town.  Areas are heavily fenced as they are trying to revegetate the area. We stocked up on groceries and drove on to Woomera. The museum was worth a visit with information on the Woomera Rocket Range. We had planned to go on the unsealed road from Glendambo to Wirrulla but the road was closed to all vehicles except  4 wheel drive so we changed our route to travel south down  the Stuart Highway to the Eyre Highway. Hugh was leading and found a nice camping spot on firm ground with plenty of firewood and shelter from the road about 70kms from Port Augusta. The cooler weather is creeping up on us and the warm jackets are out again.
